Seniors & Senioritis

Being a senior in high-school can either e overwhelming or quite refreshing — or both! During your Freshman, Sophomore, and  Junior years, you’re preparing to become a senior and all the baggage that comes with it.  When you finally get to your Senior year, there are so much things to do, starting right at the beginning and continuing all the way to the end of the school year. There are things like the SAT’s, trying to find financial aid, applying to colleges, taking placement exams, getting in your missing community service hours, and of course just passing the classes you need in order to graduate!

And just when you’re getting close to conquering all these obstacles, you start to develop senioritis. Senioritis makes you want to come to school less, slack off on classwork and homework, hardly go to your classes or come late. I  interviewed two seniors, Shanakaye Khans and Evanna Williams, to discuss whether or not they have been affected by senioritis.

****

Compass: Do you have senioritis?

Evanna: I would definently say that i have a slight dose of senioritis. At this point in the year seniors tend to get tired and slack off a bit. It has happened to me once in a while.

Shanakaye: Yes i do have senioritis. I find myself getting very lazy as the end of the school year approaches. I’m more than ready to get my diploma and just have that relief where i can say i finally finished high-school.

Compass: When did senioritis develop for you?

Evanna: I think it developed during the process of applying to college.

Shanakaye: Mines developed during Ms.Franchi’s senior expedition project.

Compass: Does senioritis effect your work?

Evanna: No it hasn’t. Even though i may slack off a bit, I still make sure everything that needs to get done is done!

Shanakaye: I agree with Evanna.  Ss much as i’m tired of school, I do not let it intervene with my school work.

Compass: What is the difference between the last three years of your highschool experience and this year?

Evanna: This year is more crucial because graduation is essential. There is so much to do.

Shanakaye: I don’t think much has changed, i  just believe as seniors we gained more responsibility than any other time in high-school
